Since retiring from the World Cup in 2002, backcountry snowboarding
has become my focus. I have always managed to sneak in a few freeride
trips a year to places like Alaska, Chile, and Greenland. These trips
were for photo and filming shoots primarily. It was always about the
“sick line” and where to place the camera man. Being responsible
to guide others for a fun, safe adventure in the mountains is very different
than my usual selfish fix. Not competing has given me more time
to educate myself further about backcountry snowboard guiding.
